The breath came into them and they lived. (Ezekiel
37:10)
In Ezekiel chapter 37, we find
the restoration of Israel. By the Holy Spirit, Ezekiel sees in a vision a
valley full of bones. The bones represent the house of Israel in exile whose
hope had died when they were dispersed among the heathen. God instructed
Ezekiel to prophecy upon the bones. The bones were then raised to life. There
was a spiritual restoration to faith.
This vision was given to assure
that the exiles would be restored by the power of God and again live in the
promised Land, in spite of their seemingly hopeless circumstances.
Israel`s restoration to life reminds
us of how God can restore his children; give them His breath of life - that is
his outpouring of Holy Spirit.
This message of hope is for everyone,
who live in exile. When we are in utter despair, we still have hope. When the
conditions are hopeless, due to sickness, or material needs, failures, still
God is our hope and he can give life through his breath.
All these years we might have been
scattered, but now onwards we are going to possess the promised Land, promised
blessings, promised Holy spirit.
God will gather us and there will be a
great spiritual awakening.
