“I will make the valley of Achor a Door of Hope”
Hosea 2:15
God is promising to bring his
people to the place that is free from distractions. Forgetting all our past
offences, through powerful words of grace, will speak to our heart. When we are
like an outcast in the wilderness of the gentile world, God is ready to pardon
all sinners and will restore all vineyards, and fruitful fields that were taken
from us.
God is going to change what had
been a time of trouble into a day of hope. The valley of “Achor” (trouble) is
the place where Achan had sinned by keeping the forbidden war plunder (Joshua
7). He had brought great disaster to Joshua’s troops when they were attempting
to conquer the land. The valley of Achor, though a scene of trouble and
distress, it was a door of hope to Israelites under Joshua, for immediately
after the execution of Achor God said to Joshua, “Fear not, neither be thou
dismayed”. (Joshua 8:1) and promised to give victory against the city named Ai,
their king and people. God uses even our negative experiences to create
opportunities to turn back to Him. When we face problems and trials God will
speak to us and we shall sing as in the earlier days.
Every day we must allow God to
rule us and should remember that He speaks to us even in times of tribulation.
Through our disobedience to God and his words we may face disgrace, and
confusion. We have a “door of Hope” to conquer all the blessings we have lost.
No man can give us a “door of Hope”. The time will come; God will bind us to
himself in his perfect righteousness.
There is a door of Hope for us.
Not always we face the “valley of Achor” situation. We will sing out of joy as
the Israelites were singing when they came out of Egypt. There is no more Bow
and Sword and battle in our lives. There is peace when we enter through the
“door of Hope”.
God
bless you all.
