PRAISE THE LORD
The last five Psalms overflow
with praise. Each begins and ends with “Praise the Lord”, they show us where,
why and how to praise God. When we praise, it takes our minds off our problems
and shortcomings and focuses them on God when we praise, we appreciate God’s
character. It lifts our perspective from the earthly to the heavenly. Praise
prepares our hearts to receive God’s love and the power of His Holy Spirit.
In Psalm 146 the Psalmist calls
us to praise and put our trust in God. These are the reasons to trust God.
1. God is our help.
2. God made heaven and earth the sea
and all that is in them.
3. He keeps faith forever.
4. He executes justice for the
oppressed.
5. He gives food for the hungry.
6. He sets the prisoners free.
7. He lifts up those who are bowed
down.
8. He loves the righteous.
9. He watches over the sojourners.
10. He upholds the widow and the
fatherless.
11. He brings the wicked to ruin.
12. He will reign forever.
Let us not
put our trust in princes and mortal beings. Instead we have to praise God
forever and delight in His words.
